Design Options and Pricing

*  Just a note of explantion on machine quilting prices: 

Quilting can be as simple as the stitching that keeps a quilt together or as complex as a work of art.  Let me explain. 

An "all over pattern" means that it is the same pattern repeated from edge to edge of the quilt.  When I quilt, I consider it drawing with thread.  I move the machine to make the various designs.  For this reason, the pattern is not exactly  the same on every pass of the quilt.  Free-hand quilting is unique and varied.  For example all my hearts are not 'perfect'.  Some are fatter and some are taller and they go every direction.  This adds interest to the quilt and gives it a "hand crafted" feel instead of a "factory" feel. Lots of quilters choose this type of quilting.  It looks great on quilts where you want the focus to be on the piecing and not on the quilting.

"Custom" quilting is changing the quilting design throughout the quilt, doing different things in each block, the sashings and borders.  I can stitch in the ditch, or outline, but straight lines require using a ruler and going slower. As a general rule, the longer the quilting takes, the more it will cost.  This kind of quilting looks wonderful on fabric with less pattern.  It will show up nicely and also add interest to your piecing.  Custom quilting is typically used on quilts that are special to you or have taken a longer time to complete.  Applique quilts are often custom quilted to go around the applique and make the hand work look fantastic.

*  Here are some of the pattern options available to you:

1 Cent Options:  Stippling, Loops, Loops and hearts, loops and stars 

1.5 Cent Options:  All over designs including:  cabbage roses, daiseys, hibiscus,  spirals, hooks, medium stippling and leaves.

2 Cent Options: All over feathers, small stipple and other closer overall patterns. An all over in the center of the quilt with additional sashings or multiple borders.

2.5 Cent Options:  Most custom quilting, including individual block design, sashings and  borders.  All stitch in the ditch and straight line quilting.
